update_frequency: annual
methodology:
counts: Arrests for [[violent_crime|violent crimes]]. Where an arrest resulted in more than one charge under a single crime category, it is counted once; an arrest may be counted under more than one of the crime categories.
excludes: Records involving a notice to appear, direct files or sworn complaints where no physical arrest was made, unless fingerprints were taken at a later stage in the criminal justice process.
limitations:
- The [[variability_measure]] is not given for counts under 5, for populations under 20, or for suppressed values.
- Do not use the [[variability_measure]] to compare two counties or two years.
- Population, rate and [[variability_measure]] are empty when no county can be assigned, and on [[unallocated]] rows.
- Population-based rates use July 1 population estimates from Florida’s Office of Economic and Demographic Research.
- '[[fdle|FDLE]] does not warrant that the records are complete or accurate. They contain what contributing agencies reported to FDLE; errors brought to its attention are investigated and corrected as needed. The source advises caution in drawing conclusions from the data.'
- All records, including those with unknown county, are part of the state total, so the state total may exceed the sum of the counties.
reference_period: Arrests as recorded in FDLE's Computerized Criminal History as of July 1, 2024. [[fdle|FDLE]] updates the data for all years from 2001 annually.

description: The source has a statewide row (geography_name = Florida). It is compared with the sum of all other rows of the same year, the counties, and then removed so it is not counted twice. If the statewide row is higher, the difference is published as an [[unallocated]] row. If it is lower, the table is not published.
